And also... proper English is not taught. Japanese English is taught. Like saying 'goomy bear' instead of 'gummy bear'.
This will never change. It is the way Japanese people are.

日本語のグミはドイツ語由来らしい。(旧（きゅう）の意味 - goo国語辞書)英語の発音だとガミに近い。
ゴムはオランダ語由来。(恋いる（こいる）の意味 - goo国語辞書)
ガムもグミもゴムも同じ意味の言葉だったけど、日本語では違う意味に使われているという例。
(茱萸〔ぐみ〕は和語なので元から別)
